Hey everyone! As you might know, I have been working on my craft/work space for a while now – Yesterday I showed you what DIY I made to help organize my desk (You can read this here) and today I am going to show you how I made my own World Map Cork Board for WAY cheaper than retail!!
Let’s get started!!
You will need:
Here is my inspiration:
It’s cute right? But with a hefty price tag of $31.00 – I wasn’t going to be able to afford it (I’m a teenager remember? I’m saving for college/car!) So, I made my own!
I’ve had this cork board lying around for a while, so it didn’t cost me anything, but you can find them on eBay for literally $2 bucks!! And it doesn’t matter if it’s lightly used or not so don’t turn one down if some of the cork is falling off (like mine was before)
You can see pieces of cork falling and it’s not looking too good – I tried painting IDEAS onto it but my brain couldn’t get past those tiny pieces that were coming off… 🙂
First, you need to get a map so you can draw your world map – and if you aren’t good at free handing than you are going to need to project it onto the board. I just found an image on Google.
Then, after you have draw your map of the world on the cork board, you are going to scrape the cork off! You are going to need one of these wood scraper thingys to get the cork board off of the wood beneath it – it’s actually pretty simple and it’s not hard to remove it.
And scrape away!
You will want to put something down while you scrape – it can get kinda messy!
I wasn’t so wise… but a quick bit of vacuuming does the trick!
Ta-Da!! Doesn’t it look awesome?!! I am in <3 with this!
It fits in perfectly with my craft area! Even though the cork is gone you can still pin to it incase you were wondering 🙂
Here is a close up of South America:
Gosh I just love this so much!
If you love it as well, it would be awesome if you could share it!
Here is a image you can pin, and in the sidebar you can click on Facebook and Twitter to share there!
